In today's world, everyone is in a hurry.
People want success overnight. They want money without patience, fame without preparation, and results without the process. Social media constantly shows us people buying new cars, building houses, traveling the world, and achieving great things. While these achievements can inspire us, they can also make us feel like we are falling behind.
So we begin to run.
We hustle from morning until night. We take every opportunity. We work extra hours. We chase every trend. We try to prove ourselves to everyone.
But in all that running, there is one important question we often forget to ask:
What am I leaving behind?
Your shadow is more than the image behind you when the sun shines.
It represents your values, your peace of mind, your relationship with God, your family, your health, your integrity, and the person you are becoming.
Many people achieve success but lose themselves along the way.
Some become wealthy but lose their health.
Some become famous but lose their peace.
Some gain the whole world but lose the people who truly loved them.
That is not success.
There was once a young entrepreneur whose only dream was to become rich before the age of thirty.
He worked every single day.
He hardly slept.
He stopped attending church because he claimed he was too busy.
He no longer visited his parents.
His friends slowly disappeared because he never had time for them.
His health began to fail, but he ignored the warning signs.
Years later, he finally became successful.
He had expensive cars.
A beautiful office.
Money in the bank.
People admired him.
But every evening when he returned home, the house was silent.
His parents had passed away.
His closest friends had moved on.
His body was exhausted.
His heart was empty.
One evening, while looking through old family photographs, he whispered,
"I reached my destination... but I left myself behind."
That moment changed his life forever.
He realized that success is not measured only by what you own.
Success is measured by who you become while building your dreams.
The Bible reminds us in Mark 8:36:
"For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"
This verse is not only about eternity.
It is also a reminder that no achievement is worth sacrificing your character, your peace, your relationship with God, or the people who truly matter.
Work hard.
Dream big.
Build your business.
Learn new skills.
Create wealth.
But don't become so busy making a living that you forget to build a life worth living.
Take care of your body.
Protect your integrity.
Spend time with your family.
Pray.
Rest.
Laugh.
Help others.
Grow spiritually while you grow financially.
Remember that life is not a race against other people.
It is a journey of becoming the person God created you to be.
The fastest person is not always the winner.
The wisest person is the one who reaches the finish line with peace, purpose, and a grateful heart.
So hustle with passion.
Work with excellence.
Pursue your dreams with courage.
But never run so fast that your shadow cannot keep up.
Because when your shadow disappears, you may discover that you have gained success...
...but lost yourself.
Hustle smart. Stay grounded. Build a life that is successful both on earth and before God.
